Montreal Amateur Radio Club News Briefs - August 2, 2001

Hope you are all having an enjoyable summer - the weather is certainly co-operating and the forecast for sunny and warm weather appears to forecast through the weekend.

In the meantime, there are a few interesting news items that I've been asked to pass.

Vernon Erle Ikeda, VE2MBS

The Annual Go-For-Guide-Dogs Walkathon at the Morgan Arboretum will be held on September 16, 2001.  I need about eight or nine more volunteers to help walk the 5 km course.  If you wish to volunteer, I can be contacted via e-mail at: ve2mbs@rac.ca or on the VE2BG repeater, 147.060(+) during the day.

VE2RED Back on the Air

The VE2RED Repeater, 147.270 (+) is now back up.  Don Dashney, VE3RM and James Hay, VE2VE went up to repeater site and re-installed the radio to it's place on the equipment rack on August 1 just after the monthly Directors meeting.  The problem appeared to be a shorted wire on the connector block and has been corrected.

Blainville International Classic driving Event

The Blainville International Classic Driving Event was held on Saturday, July 21, 2001 at the Blainville Equestrian Centre in Blainville, Quebec.  There were 25 Amateur Radio operators from the CRA Laval-Laurentides and the VE2LZR Communications group.  For more information on the day's events, please go to: http://www.marc.qc.ca/lzr/lzr01.html#blainville
