M.A.R.C. News Bulletin - June 9, 2002

Lac St. Louis Soccer Tournement.

The Lac St. Louis Soccer Tournement was held over the weekend of June 1st and 2nd, 2002.  Many thanks to the Amateur Radio operators who showed up to help.

The Amateur Radio operators at this event were:

Blainville Carriage Driving Event

On Saturday, June 8th, the following members of the St-Lazare Communications group,  The Montreal Amateur Radio Club and the Club Radio Amateur Laval-Laurentides participated in the Blainville Carriage Driving Event.

There were 33 carriages in total and despite the light showers, everyone involved had a good time.  Thanks to all of those helped out and a special thanks to Ken Magee, VE2EXC for the usual high quality organizational work.

A special round of thanks to Don Dashney, VE3RM for constructing the new M.A.R.C. portable repeater and to Wade Bates, VE3WIB for helping Don transport the repeater and associated hardware (duplexers, cables, etc) to Montreal for this event.

Anderson Powerpoles ®

At the May meeting, Don Dashney, VE3RM showed those in attendance a product called the Anderson Powerpole ®.  The 30 Ampere version is now the standard of many A.R.E.S. groups in the United States.

I've compiled a brief list of sites devoted to this interesting connector at:

  http://www.marc.qc.ca/powerpole.html

I have't tried one out myself but from what I have seen at the meeting and the information that I picked up from Don, there are other 12 volt applications it could be used for at home in the shack or in the mobile.
