M.A.R.C. News Bulletin - June 13, 2002

M.A.R.C. 70th Anniversary Date announced - October 19.

  The date for for the 70th Anniversary dinner will be Saturday, October 19, 2002.  Information as to the location and cost will be announced in the coming weeks.  If you would like more information, please e-mail the club at ve2arc@rac.ca .  It is an evening dinner affair with a speaker afterwards.  It will be starting after 18h00 (actual time to be confirmed later).

  A phone number for information will be announced at the same time as other information becomes available.

  Please note that the M.A.R.C. events page has been showing the incorrect date for the last week or so (That ought to teach me to update the page at 2 o' clock in the morning!).  It has now been corrected and please accept my apologies for the oversight. 


New Amateurs

  There are three new amateurs as of today (June 8).  Justin Grow (son of John Grow, VE2EQL), Julie Hughes and Marcio Tiexeria.

  Congratulations to the three new amateurs, hope to hear you on the air soon.

Harmony Horse Trails

Subject: Harmony Horse Trials - June 23rd 2002

  Hi, we are at 11 operators currently including Gillian and I for the Harmony Horse Trials on the 23th of June.

  The start time will be at 8:00 A.M. sharp, so the briefing time will be at 7:00 A.M..  Remember that the location is Ste-Justine-de-Newton and the talk-in is on VE2RM 147.00 (-).

  Box lunches will be provided by the Harmony Horse Trials organization to be served at the end of the cross country event at around 12:30 - 1:00pm

  There are over ?? entries to date, so it should keep us well occupied for the 4 to 5 hours of operation.

  All position must be able to operate portable.  make sure that your ht's are ok as usual.

  The operating frequencies will be:
  Main: 147.57 simplex or the new MARC repeater and the secondary frequency of 146.46 simplex

  The Control Station and all other positions will be assigned on Sunday morning.

  Make sure to bring water, folding chair, hat, bug-off and if the weather turns, rain gear (just pack it anyway).

  Here are the directions on how to get there.....

  From Montreal - Autoroute 20 or 40 then Autoroute 540 to exit 3 (Route 340 - Blvd. Cite des Jeunes) west to town of St-Clêt, turn north (right) on Route 201 to the next left.  Turn left (west) onto montée St-Julie and go to the end.  When you get the end, turn left onto the 3iéme Rang and then drive about 4 km westward to the Windedge Farm (2376 3éme Rang) which is located just before the speed zone changes to 50 km/h.  The entrance to the Windedge farm is there (white sign on the right (north) side of the road) before you enter the town of Ste. Justine de Newton.

Participating hams (so far)
VA2MOO, VE2MPD, VE2VE, VE2KN, VE2EXC, VE2EXX, VE2DC, VE3AET, VE2SJA, VE2MBS, VE2QXP for a total of 11.  We usually need 15 to be confortable with maybe one extra......

Canada Day 2002

  The Canada Day Station will again be set up at Pine Beach Park in the Arrondissement of Dorval at the Corner of Lakeshore Drive and Pine Beach Blvd..  Set-up commences at 12h30 ET (16h30 Z) and we should be on the air at 15h00 ET (19h00 Z) until 22h00 July 1st (02h00 July 2nd).

  We should be on the air from 10 to 80 metres and on various 2 metre repeaters locally.

  The board of directors of Radio Amateurs du Quebec Inc., at its regular meeting held June 1, 2002, has named new officers for the coming year.

  Mr. Yoland Audet, VE2DY, has been named president and Mr. Mario Bilodeau, VE2KEL, has been named vice-president

  Mrs. Marjolaine Vallée, VE2DOC, and Mr. Marc Tardif, VA2MT remain as secretary and treasurer respectively.

  The membership of the board of directors for the year 2002-2003 is therefore as follows:
