Subject: SONRA Participates in Trans-Atlantic VHF Experiment
Between November 17 and 21, 2002, Amateurs from Germany, Ireland and Canada will attempt two-way contact across the Atlantic, coincident with the Leonid meteor shower. They will attempt to use the ionized trails of meteors to reflect FSK441 signals across the Atlantic. Operating from SONRA'S Signal Hill station, VO1AA, St. John's, NL and the Kells in Ireland, the group will compete for the Brendan Trophies awarded by Irish Radio Transmitter Society.
Representing the Society of Newfoundland Radio Amateurs are Paul Piercey, VO1HE and Graham Dillabough, VO1DZA/VE6KJ who will be joined at Signal Hill by Harry Schleichert, DL2DAO. Operating from Ireland will be Tony Baldwin, EI2FSB, Tony Moore, EI7BMB, Nicolas Exner, DK5DQ and Volker Muehlhaus, DL5DAW.
