RAC Bulletin 03-014E - Report of the WRC meetings in Geneva by Kenneth Pulfer - VE3PU

Geneva June 23

Today marks the half-way point for this WRC.  Saturday, there were at least 15 meetings scheduled, and almost as many on Sunday.  For the difficult items, there is little time left to reach solutions.  It will take almost all of the remaining two weeks to get unanimous approval for the various compromises that have been reached.  My responsibilities here have been the VHF, UHF and microwave bands including amateur satellites.  Of the seven items that I have been following for the IARU, all but three have reached some form of acceptable compromise, and so for my part I am happy with the way things are going so far.

Jim Dean VE3IQ and Bob Jones VE7RWJ are part of the team that has been focusing on the realignment at 40 metres, while amateurs from Australia and Japan have been leading the work on the review of the amateur regulations.  Both topics are proceeding slowly.

73, Kenneth Pulfer,  VE3PU
