Communiqué from RAQI.
May 22, 2001
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Radioamateurs du Québec Inc. (RAQI), we have obtained from Industry Canada permission for all VA2/VE2s to use a special commemorative prefix. Effective from June 15, 2001 to July 15, 2001, all holders of callsigns with VE2 prefixes may use the special prefix CG2 and holders of VA2 prefixed callsigns may use the special prefix CF2. I strongly encourage you to make use of these prefixes as an excellent way of publicising this event.
We have also obtained from Industry Canada a speclial callsign which also, can be used between June 15 and July 15, 2001. This callsign is VC2A. You will note the single letter suffix which will generate considerable interest among avid contesters. The existance of this special callsign requires careful management to ensure that only one individual or group is permitted to use it at a time. Here is how it will work.
Those who wish to use this special callsign must send their request to me, in writing (e-mail, fax, packet or post) and the priveledge will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. A person or group may make one request for a one or two day period to permit as many operators as possible to use the callsign. A second request can be made, but will not be accepted until the last minute, if the requested date is not claimed by someone else making their first request.
In accepting the right to use the special callsign you also accept to submit to RAQI a copy of the log of contacts made with VC2A. This, simply put, will permit RAQI to print a special commemorative QSL card for its 50th anniversary which we will provide to you in sufficient quantity to send one card to each of your contacts.
Enjoy,
73,
