RAQI Communiqué 2002-03

Bulletin 2002-03 - August 2002

In order to ensure the continued use of the emergency communications network in support of the Quebec Minister of Public Security, a partnership agreement was signed between the Quebec Ministry of Public Security and Radio Amateur du Quebec Inc. (RAQI).  This agreement replaces the memorandum of understanding (Protocol) concluded on the 20th of January, 1994.

Our past participation in major events such as the Ice Storm and the Saguenay floods, gave us a good reputation as to the effectiveness and professionalism of the Amateur Radio community in emergency situations.  Our proficiency and efforts to maintain communications in a crisis were recognized as being excellent and indispensable.  This agreement demonstrates the credibility of our partipation, of our ideas, and of our way of functioning.  The emergency simulations that we demonstrate are recognized as an example.  With the establishment of the new Bill 173 "Loi sur le Sécurité Civile", the government recognizes our particpation and the importance of our particpation.  Congratulations to everyone that contributed, either closely or remotely, in the accomplishment of this wonderful success.
